In Paradise — Watercolours

Winter of 2015, I had the chance to study abroad and follow print- and book- artist Fred Hagstrom across cities and national parks in the Cook Islands, New Zealand, and Australia.

I carried hand-bound sketchbooks with me, so whenever I observed something intriguing, I recorded it visually. Being constantly surrounded by pristine landscapes and cityscapes makes one realize the beauty and magnitude of nature.

It’s definitely a challenge depicting an entire landscape and still be able to capture the essence of it. The sketchbooks almost became a book narrative as well, each watercolour symbolizing a specific moment. I learned a ton from the constant practice, and would love to get paid doing more watercolour or landscape art in the future.

Here are some of my works from the pages of my sketchbooks.
